Kolocep, locally known as Kalamota, is the southernmost inhabited Croatian island. It is a part of Elaphity Islands, with the area of 2.35km2, and is located approximately 3km northwest of Dubrovnik
. South of Kolocep is the Isle of St. Andrija and west of it is Lopud. There are no vehicles on the island, only a narrow road that connects the two settlements - Gornje and Donje Celo (Upper and Lower Celo). and vineyards can still be seen on Kolocep, as well as pine forest on the east and west part of the island. Pre-Romanesque Church of St. Anthony of Padua was built in Gornje Celo during the 11th and 12th centuries, while construction of the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary was started in Donje Celo in the 13th century. On the way to Gornje Celo there is the 15th century Church of St. Anthony. In times of the Republic of Ragusa, Kolocep was an important shipbuilding site, and according to the legends, two of the sailors from the Christopher Columbus' crew on Santa Maria were from this island.

After it was attacked by Turks in 1571, two defense fortresses were built on the island. Kolocep has over 250 sunny days per year. Its average winter temperature is around 10°C, and average summer temperature is around 27°C. In the summer, one can go swimming, rent a kayak, explore the island by bike or on foot, and most of all relax. Kolocep is also a favorite site of divers, due to its underwater chasms and caves (Jabuka, Modra spilja, Bezdan).
