Loggia was built in the 17th Century. The Romanesque-Gothic bell tower serrated battlement from the 13th Century served as the sentry box. Only one of these is a lion with an open book, symbolizing the time of peace. Hotel Kastel is located in the old part of town, in what used to be the palace of Polesini family. There is also Hotel Villa Borgo and private rooms and apartments. From 1999, Motovun has been the site of the Motovun Film Festival. Thanks to this summer film festival, the word of Motovun has spread beyond Croatian borders. During the festival, this small town in continental Istria is visited by several thousand people from the film world, tourists and many Istrians. Other than rooms and apartments, during the festival, Motovun also offers plots for camping in tents.
