Ten kilometers from Sibenik, taking the road along the Sibenik Bridge or the sea route under it, you will reach Zaton. Although it was first mentioned in the 15th century, the necropolis found at the nearby site of Velika Mrdakovica dates back to the 1st and the 6th century BC. Church of St. Roko was build during the last century at the site of the 17th century Church of St. Juraj. Church of St. Roko dominates the village. Sarina Draga, as well as rowing. It was thanks to the favorable conditions of Zaton Bay that this was the site of Split Mediterranean Games rowing and kayaking competition in 1979. The beaches here are mostly concrete (Hangar, Zvizda), naturally rocky and stone beaches (Sarina Draga). People of Zaton mostly work in farming, fishing or tourism industries. sea, some in the old centre of Zaton and some are spread apart enabling a truly relaxing vacation. Restaurants Porat and Hangar, and tavern Feral, etc. will all try to provide you with a truly quality gastronomic experience. In the summer, Zaton organizes various events and tournaments, but the real celebration is held at the end of July (Zatonska vecer - Zaton Evening) and on the 16th of August (holiday of St. Roko). If you leave Zaton and continue further inland or upstream along the River Krka, you will reach Raslina and Prokljan Lake. It's interesting that the water in the lake is fresh water down to the depth of 1.5m and underneath that is saltwater, which is favorable for both saltwater and freshwater fish, as well as shellfish farming. At the other side of Prokljan Lake there is village of Bilice. Just like Zaton, Raslina and Bilice also offers accommodation (apartments and rooms), as well as mooring for yachts and sailboats on their way to Skradin.
